Carolina Beach Film & Fireworks Series
The town of Carolina Beach, N.C. will be hosting a "Film and Fireworks Series" this summer. The events will take place on Sundays and Thursdays beginning May 22, weather permitting. Family-friendly movies will be held at Carolina Beach Lake Park every Sunday and a fireworks display will be on the beach near the boardwalk each Thursday with a band performing from 6pm-9pm before the fireworks. Pleasure Island Free Summer Concert Series
The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce hosts their Free Summer Concerts at the Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area located along the Cape Fear River. They are held on the second and fourth Fridays in June, July and August (weather permitting). Grab the children, bring a chair or blanket and prepare to sit back, relax and enjoy some great music from 6 to 8 PM. This year you are allowed to bring your own food. NC Aquarium Family Night - Polar Opposites
Is there anything cooler than hanging out with polar bears and penguins? What about learning how glaciers change the landscape, why ice floats and hearing a whole new version of "Ice, Ice Baby?" Take a break from the heat with interactive programs, Arctic crafts and polar activities! Enjoy Steel drum music by Kevin Kolb. These and a variety of other activities for all ages are free with paid admission or membership. Ticket sales end at 8pm. Visitors who tour the Aquarium earlier in the day may return for Family Night activities at no additional charge, if they present their receipts. Call 910.458.8257 for more information.

Learn about the almost 400 species of sharks with interactive programs, fishy crafts, and surprising reminders that prove just how unthreatening sharks really are! "Toys, Games & More" at Fort Fisher
Play civil War era games with site staff and volunteers! Learn about period games and toys as you are encouraged to play with examples provided by Fort Fisher State Historic Site. Kids of all ages will enjoy hoop races, games of graces as well as many more. Large games of townball (an early version of baseball) will be played on grounds surrounding the fort.
